Just a little about me...
I was raised along the riverbanks of Hertford and I am proud to call Perquimans County my home! Although, this is my eighth year at Hertford Grammar School as an Exceptional Children's Teacher, I am embarking on my 22nd year working with at-risk students in our surrounding school districts. I attended undergraduate school at Elizabeth City State University and then ventured on to East Carolina University to earn my first Master's Degree, with a minor in Juvenile Justice and Substance Abuse Treatment. As a lifelong learner, I attended N.C. State University to attain my second Master's Degree in Education with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction. My areas of licensure are K-12. I attained my National Board Certification in 2017. Special Education is my true passion and I am inspired by watching students learn and grow. I am certified as a "Reading Research to Classroom Practice" Instructor, formerly known as "Reading Foundations."
On a personal note, I married my "middle school sweetheart" and we are the proud parents of two girls, ages 11 and 8. We have a poodle named, "Daisy" and a Lab named "Max." In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, enjoying the river, traveling, going to the beach, and just cherishing every moment of life. I have learned that while we try to parent our children and guide them in the right direction, they teach us what life is truly about!
I look forward to working with you to support and enrich your child's academic and emotional growth. We will have opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead. I have created this site in an effort to provide you and your child with the needed resources to help them be successful in school this year! I am proud to be a part of the "Panther Family!"
